Common property types
Much of our work here is in Cotswold stone homes, from small cottages in Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water to larger village houses around Cirencester, Tetbury and Painswick. Many are listed or sit in conservation areas. We also survey Regency and Victorian homes in Cheltenham, stone and brick terraces in Stroud and Gloucester, and modern estate homes across the county.
Issues we often look out for
Stone walls and stone slate roofs need different care from modern homes. We often see damp caused by cement pointing, impermeable renders or high ground levels against walls, and slipped or worn stone slates. Older roof timbers, chimneys and leadwork need close attention. In valleys around Stroud and near the Severn we also consider flooding and drainage, and for listed homes we flag where repairs may need consent.
