Homes we survey in Oxfordshire
Common property types
Oxfordshire’s housing is unusually varied. In Oxford itself we survey Victorian and Edwardian terraces, many with loft conversions, rear extensions and basements. Market towns such as Witney, Burford and Chipping Norton have Cotswold stone cottages, some of them listed. Thame, Wallingford and the villages have older timber-framed and brick homes, and newer estates have grown up around Didcot, Bicester and Wantage.
Issues we often look out for
Older solid-walled homes can suffer from damp when modern cement renders, plasters or raised ground levels stop the walls from breathing. Clay soils in parts of the county can move in dry summers, so we look carefully for cracking near trees. Homes near the Thames, the Cherwell and their tributaries may sit close to flood zones. Alterations such as extensions, removed chimney breasts and loft rooms are checked for signs of movement or missing support.

“We had a Level 3 survey from Max for an older property. Max took the time to call me and go through all the points in detail. I had follow up questions which were answered immediately and clearly. Great value for money compared to other surveyors, included costings as well.”
